The Ship Inn Restaurant and Brewery Claimed

Dear Friends of the Ol’ Ship,

In addition to our formal post regarding the outbreak, I wanted to share a more personal note with you.

​

Two years ago, my wife Ana and I, along with our dear friends – the Forste’s and the Dew’s – set out on an adventure to continue the great story that is the Ship Inn. The chance to preserve the history of NJ’s oldest craft brewery was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. We’ve worked hard to make the Ship everything it could be and more…all in the hopes of honoring our past yet getting the chance to tell a new story.

On Saturday, April 4th we plan to kick off this new chapter as we relaunch as “Descendants Brewing Company at the Old Ship Inn”. It took a little longer than we had planned, but we wouldn’t be here without the incredible support of our community, our guests from near and far and our families.

With everything going on though it seems we have some pretty crummy timing. We have a lot of moving parts as we work hard to get to relaunch. For those who know me well you can probably imagine that our 7-month-old is squirming on my chest as I write this. Family means the world to us here at the brewery. And we want everyone to feel safe and comfortable…whether that’s in the comfort of your own home or here with us at the brewery. We know to some going out to eat isn’t “essential”…but as this outbreak pops up around us, our business and getting to the Descendants launch has never felt more essential to our staff and our family.

We hope if you’re comfortable, that you continue being part of our family. Whether dining with us here or maybe grabbing takeout or a gift card for when this all blows over. We don’t know what’s to come over the next three weeks. We’ll all learn that together. But know that we appreciate everyone who has made this possible for us.

On another note…we’d like to extend meals for kids who might be food insecure if not in school. We know that’s a big concern for some families and we want you to know you have somewhere to turn.

Thanks always for being part of our family. We’ve got incredible new things in store and we’d love nothing more than to have you on this journey with us.
